Want to Join Schweiker Squadron?
The Jack Schweiker Composite Squadron is a local unit of the Civil
Air Patrol, based in Cherry Hill, NJ. As a composite squadron, we
have both adult ''officer'' and teen ''cadet'' members who come from
Burlington, Camden and Gloucester counties. We meet Monday evenings
at 7 p.m. at the Cherry Hill National Guard Armory, Park Blvd. and
Grove St. Click
here for a map to our meeting location.
Our cadets, age 12-18, take part in many squadron and New Jersey
Wing/CAP activities, including summer encampment, ground search and
rescue training and much more. Many of our officers are actively
involved in CAP training and flight activities..
Schweiker Squadron has a proud tradition of sending many cadets to
national military academies, although not all enter the service.
Many of our officers are also leaders at the wing or group (South
Jersey region) level. While some officers are pilots, adult members
have many different professions ~ teachers, engineers, business
owners and more.
Whether you're thinking of joining as a cadet or officer, we ask
that you sit in on three meetings before applying for membership. By
sitting in on three meetings, you will get to see a variety of
pieces of the cadet or officer program. Then you can make a decision
about whether CAP is something you want to commit to.
Once you have attended three meetings, we will give you all the
necessary paperwork to fill out and send into CAP national
headquarters. Cadet paperwork is pretty easy to fill out and the
senior member paperwork is similar except for a fingerprint card
that you will need to have done at your local police station..
New members receive a starter package of books for the seniors and
the cadets will receive a binder with a CD that contains all the
needed manuals to start the program with. Our squadron can help both
officers and cadets get started with uniform items.
