Commander's Welcome

1st Lt Timothy W. Sperry - Squadron Commander
Welcome to the website of the Jack Schweiker Composite Squadron NJ-059, New Jersey Wing, Civil Air Patrol.
My name is 1st Lt Timothy Sperry, I became the Commander of the Jack Schweiker Composite Squadron on 17 December 2018. I have been a member of the Civil Air Patrol since I joined as a cadet in 2008. Over the last 11 years, I have had the opportunity to go through the cadet program earning the Billy Mitchell Award, and was able to attend Basic Encampment, and Cadet Officer School as a National Cadet Special Activity. I come from a long line of members in Civil Air Patrol starting with my grandfather who joined what would become the Jack Schweiker Composite Squadron 58 years ago, and was continued by my father, Lt Colonel Michael Sperry, who has guided and mentored me as I've gone through the program.

As the Squadron Commander, my priority is to continue the strong legacy our squadron has had in the past,  and will keep our Squadron on a path of growth and continued success. I look to keep our program safe, and fun for our Cadets and Senior Members alike. Our Cadet Program will be a strong focus of mine, to insure that the Cadets are getting the program that they deserve, and are growing into successful young adults, no matter what their future career and educational goals are. Our members are active in the communities we serve, primarily in Camden County, but also in Gloucester and Burlington Counties.  We also participate in activities throughout the state, region and even nationally.

Membership in Civil Air Patrol presents the opportunity to receive professional training and serve our communities, state and nation in many capacities.  The Cadet Program is an amazing experience for young people, and helps prepare them as future leaders in addition to providing functional skills and career orientation in many possible directions -- military service, aviation, technology and emergency management just to name a few.  Our Emergency Services missions have saved lives, brought relief to disaster victims and assisted in the on-going efforts to secure our nation.  Our Aerospace Education efforts continue to educate our members and the general public, promote aviation and aerospace and preserve our country's heritage in flight.

Essentially, there is something in CAP for just about anyone interested in leadership, volunteer service and fun!
I encourage you to visit our meetings, find out what we're about and see if it's a good fit for your aspirations to be more and do more!

Respectfully,

1st Lt Timothy W. Sperry, CAP
